Summary

Spring Garden Elementary is a public elementary school in Hampstead, Maryland, serving 456 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the highly-ranked Carroll County Public Schools district.

Spring Garden Elementary consistently performs among the top 25% of Maryland elementary schools, with students significantly outperforming state and district averages in Mathematics, English Language Arts, and Science. The school has a relatively low student-teacher ratio and higher per-student spending compared to nearby schools. However, Spring Garden has seen a concerning increase in chronic absenteeism, which is an area of focus for the school.

While Spring Garden's overall academic performance is strong, the school's White students rank slightly lower than the school's overall ranking, suggesting a potential achievement gap for this subgroup. Interestingly, the school is particularly effective in supporting students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, who perform exceptionally well. Compared to nearby schools, Spring Garden generally outperforms other Carroll County Public Schools and even some Baltimore County Public Schools, making it a standout elementary school in the region.

Open Quote I am beyond happy to have my daughter attending Spring Garden Elementary. Not only do they put the time and work in to give our children a proper education, they 100 care about our children’s wellbeing. No students left behind is a motto they live and stand by. This is my daughters first year attending. She is in Kindergarten. Mrs Groft is her teacher. I have so many great things to say about her. She has amazing skills she practices to teach the children. She’s kind and patient. When she talks about her students you can tell she doesn’t just teach for a paycheck, she teaches because she cares about our children and has compassion. All of the teachers at Spring Garden are exactly what I look for in a teacher. I’m very grateful for each and every one of them. It’s comforting to know my daughter is in good caring hands at Spring Garden Elementary. All schools should mirror their amazing qualities! Close Quote

Open Quote The school administration is incompetent. The principal turns a blind eye to serious matters that need to be addressed. A lot of teacher/student bullying goes on. It's a sad shame. A lot of the teachers are not there for the students ......just a paycheck. I wouldn't send my dogs there. Close Quote
