Comprehensive Grammar School is a K–8 school in Methuen, MA, serving 1,046 students at 100 Howe Street. Its district ranks 278th of 351 Massachusetts districts, but the school itself earns 2 stars and ranks 585th of 899 schools statewide (35th percentile), consistently outperforming its own district's standing.

Compared with the two nearby Methuen K–8 grammars, Tenney Grammar School and Donald P Timony Grammar, Comprehensive leads both in ELA and math by roughly 8 to 12 points. Grade-level results are uneven: 4th grade is strong in both subjects, and 7th grade ELA (44.17% proficient) is the school's best result anywhere. But 8th grade falls below the district average in both ELA and math, and Timony outscored it there. Science is the one subject where a Methuen peer edges it out, and all-grades science proficiency has slipped from 33.19 to 24.41 over three cycles. The teachers are underqualified and did a poor job of preparing me for high school. They treated students disrespectfully (some times the disrespect was based on race, gender and sexual orientation) and didn't receive any consequences when receive by parents and students alike. There were a few avoidable incidents regarding the middle school that could have been avoided if competence was present. Most issues involving teachers and student were more often than not handled unprofessionally and on occasion had students need therapeutic counseling (outside of school). All and all, the vast majority of the teachers behaved unprofessionally and sometimes mentally abusive to students. This review was written in 2022. Close Quote
