Summary

Mary E. Baker School is an elementary school in Brockton, Massachusetts, serving 724 students from kindergarten to 5th grade. The school has consistently ranked in the bottom quarter of Massachusetts elementary schools, with proficiency rates in MCAS assessments significantly lower than state and district averages.

While the school performs relatively better for certain student subgroups, such as African American and English Language Learner students, its overall academic performance is a persistent challenge. The student-teacher ratio at Mary E. Baker School is lower than the Brockton district average, but this has not translated to higher academic achievement. Compared to nearby schools, Mary E. Baker School generally performs at a similar or slightly lower level, with the exception of Downey Elementary, which has slightly higher proficiency rates.

The persistent low performance at Mary E. Baker School suggests the need for a comprehensive and targeted approach to address the educational needs of the diverse student population. While the school's performance for certain subgroups is relatively better, the overall academic achievement remains a significant challenge that requires focused attention and intervention.

Open Quote I was skeptical, but my two first graders are doing great! Both were starting to read in kindergarten, and can now read chapter books. The math they are going is great, already adding, subtracting, and even a little division!
The communication with the teachers is great, always available, super easy to get involved, just excellent. I must admit, I was very surprised. Close Quote
