Summary:

Brewster’s public school system in this data set consists of two elementary schools: Stony Brook Elementary, serving grades PK–2 with 242 students, and Eddy Elementary, serving grades 3–5 with 197 students. Together they enroll 439 students, and there are no middle, high, or alternative schools listed for the area. The Brewster district is ranked 113th of 351 districts statewide — the 68th percentile — with 3 stars.

Eddy Elementary is the current academic standout. In 2025–2026, its all-grade proficiency rates were 49.2% in ELA, 50% in math, and 58.18% in science, all above the state (40.03%, 41.11%, and 40.98%). It also outpaced the state in all three subjects in 2024–2025, when rates were higher: 50.26% ELA, 56.08% math, and 61.19% science. Eddy’s edge was largest in science, roughly 15–20 points above the state. Its ranking rose from the 57th percentile in 2023–2024 to the 71st in 2024–2025, then eased to the 69th in 2025–2026 — still stronger than two years earlier. Grade-level results in 2025–2026 were strongest in 3rd-grade ELA (54.84%), 5th-grade science (58.18%, about 15 points above the state) and 5th-grade math (51.85%, about 12.4 points above the state). The lowest result, 4th-grade ELA at 45.71%, still beat district and state.

Stony Brook Elementary has impressive but old ranking history: 89th percentile in 2004–2005, 94th percentile with 5 stars in 2003–2004, and 89th percentile in 2002–2003. It spends more per student ($26,537 in 2020–2021) than Eddy ($23,827), with similar student-teacher ratios (8.8 versus 8.9). Because Stony Brook serves PK–2, it has no MCAS results in this file, so current achievement cannot be compared. Free/reduced-lunch percentages are blank for both schools, so that context is unavailable.
