Worcester, Massachusetts has four middle schools in this data set — Sullivan Middle (grades 6–8), Forest Grove Middle (grades 7–8), Worcester East Middle (grades 6–8), and Burncoat Middle School (grades 7–8) — together enrolling 3,230 students, an average of about 808 per school. All four belong to the Worcester district, which ranks 304 of 351 Massachusetts districts (13th percentile, 1 star), so these schools generally trail state averages. Note that grade spans differ: only Sullivan and Worcester East serve 6th grade.

Sullivan and Burncoat emerge as the strongest of the four. Sullivan has the best 2025–2026 rank (315 of 478, 34th percentile, 2 stars) and the highest all-grade ELA (32.44%) and math (30.70%) scores. Its 6th-grade results are the standout of the whole set: 84% ELA and 94% math proficient, far above both district and state. Burncoat is the most balanced school, the only one above the district in all three all-grade subjects (ELA 25.68%, math 27.01%, science 28.57%) and in every reported grade-level subject, with the strongest science scores in both years. Sullivan leads in ELA and math, but its all-grade science (21.79%) falls below the district figure of 23.97%.

Forest Grove's bright spot is civics — highest among the four in both years (26.25% in 2025–2026, 29.11% the year before) — though its math (18.52%) and science (20.57%) trail the district. Worcester East has the lowest results in ELA, math, science, and civics, along with the highest student-teacher ratio (14.3) and the highest 2020–2021 per-student spending ($18,124), yet its science improved from 13.15% to 19.88%. Science rose in three schools year over year, while ELA and math declined in three. No school reaches state averages in all-grade ELA, math, or science.
