Summary

Negreet High School is a small, rural public school in Negreet, Louisiana, serving 413 students from Pre-K through 12th grade within the Sabine Parish school district. Despite serving a student population where nearly two-thirds are economically disadvantaged, this school consistently delivers exceptional academic results and boasts a perfect 0.0% dropout rate for four consecutive years, making it a standout institution in the region.

Negreet High School outperforms its nearby peers in nearly every academic category. In the most recent school year, 77% of students were proficient in Mathematics, compared to 68% at Hornbeck High School and 75% at Ebarb School. In English Language Arts, Negreet achieved an impressive 86% proficiency rate, far exceeding the state average of 70% and outpacing nearby schools like Florien High School (76%). The school also excels in high-stakes End-of-Course exams, with 82% proficiency in both English I and English II. Its graduation rate of 93.5% is well above the state average of 85%, and its chronic absenteeism rate of 22.3% is significantly lower than Hornbeck's 49.4% and Ebarb's 33.6%, indicating a more engaged student body.

What truly sets Negreet apart is its remarkable consistency and resilience. While many schools saw academic disruptions during the pandemic, Negreet's proficiency rates in Math and English have remained stable and high—between 75-81% and 85-89% respectively—over the past four years. The school also demonstrated an extraordinary ability to re-engage students after COVID-19, with chronic absenteeism dropping from 27.6% in 2020-2021 to just 5.7% the following year. This combination of top-tier academics, near-perfect student retention, and a strong school culture makes Negreet High School a compelling choice for families seeking a high-quality education in a supportive rural environment.
