Summary

Converse High School is an alternative public school serving grades PK-12 in Converse, Louisiana, part of the Sabine Parish school district. With 510 students, Converse High School generally outperforms the district and state averages on standardized tests, maintaining strong graduation rates and low dropout rates.

Converse High School's test scores consistently exceed the Sabine Parish and Louisiana averages, with 69% proficiency in English Language Arts and 62% in math, compared to 70% and 60% for the district and state, respectively. The school also boasts a 4-year graduation rate ranging from 80.1% to 84.0% over the past 5 years, on par with or slightly above the district and state averages. However, Converse High School faces challenges with higher chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 21.9% to 36.1% in recent years, which is an area of concern.

Compared to nearby schools like Pleasant Hill High School and Ebarb School, also part of the Sabine Parish district, Converse High School generally outperforms these schools on test scores and other metrics, suggesting it is providing a stronger educational experience for its students. However, the school's high percentage of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 40.23% to 59.02% in recent years, indicates it serves a population with significant socioeconomic challenges that may require additional resources and support.

Open Quote My 3 children attend CHS. I must say CHS is the best school my children have ever attended. Here is why. 1 The teachers take the time to teach each student. 2 CHS has an after school program that helps your child/children with homework or tutoring if they need it. 3 It's a very small school and all of the teachers know each parent to each child, I love being able to walk into my child's school and they know my name and who I'm there for. If there is a problem they meet with the parents to talk about it and help resolve it instead of just kicking the child out.
My children have only attended one other school and it doesn't even begin to compare to CHS. Close Quote
