Summary

Logansport High School is a small, alternative-type school in rural Logansport, Louisiana, serving 566 students in grades PK-12 as part of the high-performing DeSoto Parish district, which ranks in the top 20% of Louisiana parishes.

This school truly shines in keeping students on track and preparing them for high-stakes exams. With a graduation rate of 93% and a dropout rate of just 0.6%—far better than the state averages of 85% and 3.1%—Logansport demonstrates a strong commitment to student success. Its small class sizes, with a favorable 10.5:1 student-to-teacher ratio, allow for personalized attention that seems to pay off. On end-of-course exams, Logansport outperforms both the state and nearby Stanley High School in key subjects: 95% of students are proficient in English II (compared to Stanley's 75%), 81% in Geometry (vs. 75%), and 76% in Biology (vs. 75%). However, the school faces a notable challenge in middle school math, where only 55% of 7th graders and 60% of 8th graders are proficient—well below the district average of 76%. This suggests a potential gap in foundational skills that could affect future high school performance.

While Logansport excels in many areas, it does have a higher chronic absenteeism rate (19.5%) than Stanley High School (15.4%), though it remains below the state average. The school also shows a bright spot in early education, with 86% of 3rd graders proficient in Social Studies—far exceeding the district and state averages. With 61.48% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch, a figure that has risen in recent years, Logansport's strong academic results in a supportive, alternative setting make it a compelling choice for families seeking a school that prioritizes both achievement and student well-being.

Open Quote This school has been a major disappointment since start of kindergarten. Due to covid my son spends more time learning from a device IN CLASS, than i think is necessary. He needs better learning, he needs actual help in the classroom.he has fell behind to the point id rather Just pull him out and make sure hes learning what he needs help with most. Rude staff, lack of care from teachers are just a few reasons I detest this school. Close Quote
