Summary:
Four elementary schools in ZIP code 40391 serve kindergarten through grade 4 in Clark County: Strode Station Elementary School, William G. Conkwright Elementary, Willis H. Justice Elementary School, and Shearer Elementary School. In 2025–2026, the schools’ average results were about 3 points below state results in mathematics and 7 points below in reading and science. But the biggest difference is between schools: grade-4 reading scores ranged from 23% to 48%, a 25-point spread, with the state at 50%. These results vary substantially by school and subject, so an area-wide average alone can hide meaningful differences.
Shearer led in four of the five reportable latest-year comparisons, scoring 45% in grade-3 math, 53% in grade-3 reading, 48% in grade-4 reading, and 39% in science. Those scores were 2 points above the state in grade-3 math and 4 points above in grade-3 reading, while grade-4 reading and science were 2 and 1 points below. Strode led reported grade-4 math results at 42%, just below the state’s 43%. Conkwright had the lowest reported result in grade-3 math (34%), grade-4 reading (23%), and science (22%)—9, 27, and 18 points below state results. Its grade-4 math score is suppressed.
Recent results are mixed, but Shearer has gained ground: its SchoolDigger ranking percentile rose 22 points, from 28 to 50, between 2023–2024 and 2025–2026. SchoolDigger places Justice at the 35th percentile, Strode at the 32nd, and Conkwright at the 17th. Across results reportable in both years, the average gap from state results narrowed by about 1 point, though individual subjects and schools moved in different directions. Context also varies: student-teacher ratios range from 11.7 at Conkwright to 14.4 at Shearer; all four report free/reduced lunch eligible shares for 2024–2025, from 59% at Strode to 72% at Conkwright.
