Summary

Mason County High School is a public school in Maysville, Kentucky, serving 877 students in grades 9–12. Its 2025–2026 graduation rate was 95%, slightly above the state’s 94%, but chronic absenteeism was higher than both the state and district rates. The central academic concern is that Mason scored below the state in every reported KSA subject; writing was furthest behind, at 29% proficient compared with 47% statewide.

Compared with nearby schools, Mason’s results vary by subject: it was lowest in grade 10 math and reading and grade 11 writing, but its editing and mechanics result was strongest among the three schools. Mason had 33% proficiency in editing and mechanics, versus 22% at Bracken County High School and 30% at Fleming County High School; it was also above Bracken in social studies, though below Fleming. Mason’s KSA results matched those of the Mason County district in every subject listed. Its 95% graduation rate was above the state rate but below both nearby schools, which were at 97%.

Over time, KSA results fell in four of five subjects with comparable 2022–2023 and 2025–2026 results. Writing dropped 15 points and social studies 16; math rose 3 points, but the state gained 6, widening Mason’s gap. SchoolDigger’s statewide subgroup rankings show contrasting results: African American students ranked at the 87th percentile in 2025–2026, up 59 points from the prior year, while male students ranked at the 9th percentile, down 47 points from 2023–2024.
