Summary

Lewisburg Elementary School serves 500 students in pre-K through grade 8 in Lewisburg, in Logan County. Its recent results are uneven: grade 8 writing stands out as a strength, but academic results overall are weak compared with the state and the school has fallen in SchoolDigger’s statewide rankings. The clearest concern is grade 5, where proficiency is especially low in math and writing.

Grade 8 writing is a bright spot: 60% of students were proficient, compared with 48% statewide and 52% districtwide; nearby results included 38% at Olmstead Elementary School, 43% at Chandlers Elementary School, and 62% at Auburn Elementary School. Grade 5 is much weaker: math proficiency was 16%, versus 43% statewide and 32% districtwide, and writing was 12%, versus 35% and 18%. Lewisburg’s grade 5 math result was below every nearby school’s reported score; one nearby result was suppressed. Across tested grades, the school’s average was below the state in every subject and below the district in all but writing, where it was one point higher. Social studies was the weakest overall compared with both.

Results and SchoolDigger’s standing have declined over time. The school’s statewide percentile fell from 53 in 2021–2022 to 20 in 2025–2026, when it received 1 star and ranked third-lowest among the eight nearby schools. From 2022–2023 to 2025–2026, average math proficiency fell from 46% to 33%, while reading fell from 49% to 41%. Attendance moved in a more positive direction: chronic absenteeism dropped from 31% in 2023–2024 to 10% in 2025–2026, below the district’s 13% and the state’s 24%. The 2024–2025 student–teacher ratio was 17.2:1, the second-highest among nearby schools, and 61% of students were free/reduced lunch eligible in 2024–2025. SchoolDigger’s measure of how well the school serves female students fell from the 52nd percentile in 2023–2024 to the 21st in 2025–2026; for students with low socioeconomic status, it fell from the 42nd to the 17th percentile.
