Western Hills High School is a public high school in Frankfort, Kentucky, serving grades 9–12 with 827 students. Its 2025–2026 results were mixed: it was below the state and Franklin County district in five of six reported KSA subjects, but above both in writing. The clearest concern is attendance: 33% of students were chronically absent, compared with 24% statewide and 21% districtwide.

Writing is Western Hills’ strongest tested subject, while 10th-grade math and reading stand out as weaknesses. In writing, 51% were proficient, above the state’s 47% and the district’s 50%; the school ranked third among five nearby comprehensive high schools, behind Woodford County High School and Franklin County High School. In math, 30% were proficient, below the district’s 34% and the state’s 40%; in reading, Western Hills’ 43% was also below the district’s 46% and the state’s 49%. It scored below all four nearby comprehensive schools with reported results in both subjects.

Results have shifted over time: from 2023–2024 to 2025–2026, math fell 1 percentage point and writing fell 3, while reading rose 2 points overall despite a 10-point drop in the latest year. The state math rate rose 4 points over that period, widening Western Hills’ math gap with the state from 5 to 10 points.
