Ludlow Independent

The two schools in Ludlow Independent serve preschool through grade 12: Mary A. Goetz Elementary School serves PK–6 and enrolls 455 students, while Ludlow High School serves grades 7–12 and enrolls 376. Their grade spans do not overlap, so same-grade results do not allow a direct school-to-school comparison. In 2025–26, 14 of the 26 reported subject-and-grade results were below state levels, 11 were above and one was equal; the gaps ranged from 11 points below to 33 above. The clearest overall takeaway is that results vary considerably by grade and subject, rather than showing consistently strong performance.

Ludlow High School had the strongest single result: 80% proficiency in 11th-grade writing, 33 points above the state’s 47%; 10th-grade reading was also strong at 64%, 15 points above the state. But the high school had shortfalls too: 8th-grade reading and Editing and Mechanics were each 11 points below state results. Mary A. Goetz Elementary School stood out in 5th-grade Editing and Mechanics, at 65% versus 48% statewide, a 17-point advantage. It also exceeded the state in 5th- and 6th-grade math and 5th-grade reading and writing, while 4th-grade math and reading were each 8 points below state levels.

Matched results moved closer to state levels over time: the elementary’s average gap narrowed from 4 points below in 2024–25 to 1 point below in 2025–26; the high school’s narrowed from 6 points below to 1 point below. SchoolDigger’s 2025–26 ranking was higher for the high school: 38 of 262 schools, at the 85th percentile with 4 stars, compared with the elementary at 383 of 684, the 44th percentile with 2 stars. Both rankings rose from 2023–24: the elementary from the 31st to 44th percentile and the high school from the 79th to 85th. In 2024–25, free/reduced lunch eligible students made up 64% at the elementary and 66% at the high school; student-teacher ratios were 14.4 and 13.8, respectively. The high school also reported 100% graduation, 6 points above the state, while chronic absenteeism was below the state at both schools: 15% at the elementary and 20% at the high school.
