Zip code 67731 has two schools in the Cheylin district: Cheylin Elementary serves prekindergarten through grade 6 and has 102 students, while Cheylin Junior/Senior High serves grades 7–12 and has 62. Their all-grades results reflect different grade spans, so they are not direct like-for-like comparisons. Most importantly, the schools have sharply different subject strengths: Elementary leads in English language arts, while Junior/Senior High leads in science.

Cheylin Elementary stands out in English language arts: 51% of students were proficient in 2025–26, compared with 29% at Cheylin Junior/Senior High—a 22-point difference. Elementary was 5 points above the state rate, while Junior/Senior High was 17 points below. The high school leads in math, 48% to 43%, and especially in science, 61% to 27%, a 34-point gap. The schools’ reported student–teacher ratios are 9.6 at Elementary and 6.7 at the high school, and their 2024–25 free/reduced-lunch rates were 52% and 50%. Both had lower chronic absenteeism than the state in 2025–26, and the high school’s reported graduation rate was 100%, compared with 90% statewide.
