High Schools in Woodson

Woodson has one listed high school, Yates Center High, serving grades 7–12 with 181 students. In 2025–26, its proficiency was below the state result in English language arts (ELA) and math, but above it in science. The most important concern is math: 19% of students were proficient, compared with 41% statewide, a 22-point gap.

Science is the school’s clearest strength, while math—especially in eighth grade—is the main weakness. All-grades science proficiency was 44%, versus 38% statewide, and 11th-grade science reached 50%, compared with 30% statewide, a 20-point advantage. The school’s student-teacher ratio is 10.2, and 57% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch; these figures provide context, not an explanation for results.
