Osborne County

In Osborne County, two schools serve students from prekindergarten through grade 12: Osborne Elementary serves prekindergarten–grade 5, and Osborne Junior/Senior High serves grades 6–12. The clearest concern is the high school’s sharp drop in reported results from 2024–25 to 2025–26: down 10 percentage points in ELA, 14 in math, and 22 in science.

Osborne Elementary leads the two schools in all three 2025–26 all-grade subjects, with 54% proficient in ELA, 51% in math, and 48% in science—13, 16, and 12 points above the high school, respectively. The high school’s results are 42% in ELA, 36% in math, and 36% in science, below state results by 4, 5, and 2 points. These all-grade comparisons are not like-for-like because the schools serve different grade spans. Grade-level results add important detail: the high school is well above state benchmarks in grade 10 ELA and math and grade 11 science, but grade 8 is below the state by 26 points in ELA, 23 in math, and 11 in science. Elementary results are above state benchmarks in every reported grade-and-subject comparison.

The declines at the high school contrast with an improving state ELA and math profile; the two-school mean still exceeds state results by 2 points in ELA, 3 in math, and 4 in science, but those leads have narrowed. SchoolDigger ranks the high school at the 89th percentile with 4 stars, compared with the elementary school at the 63rd percentile with 3 stars; the elementary ranking has fallen 16 percentile points since 2023–24, while the high school is up 8. Other measures give a mixed picture: elementary enrollment is higher (194 versus 157), as are its student–teacher ratio (10.4 versus 8.3) and free/reduced-lunch rate (60% versus 43%), while chronic absenteeism is lower (3% versus 20%). The high school’s 90% graduation rate and 1% dropout rate are positive counterpoints to its latest test results.
