Summary:
Humboldt has one listed elementary school, Humboldt Elementary School, serving prekindergarten through fifth grade with 342 students. Because there is only one school in the list, there is no local school-to-school comparison; the clearest picture comes from comparing its results with Kansas overall. In 2025–26, the school’s strongest result was math: 64% of students were proficient, compared with 41% statewide, a 23-point advantage.
Math stands out across every grade reported, while science is the clearest weakness. Third-grade math proficiency was 71%, 28 points above Kansas; fourth grade was 53%, 8 points above; and fifth grade was 72%, 27 points above. By contrast, all-grade science proficiency was 28%, 11 points below the state’s 38%, and fifth-grade science was 28%, 18 points below Kansas. ELA was modestly above the state overall—49% versus 46%—but that lead was concentrated in third grade: results were 4 points above Kansas in third grade, 6 below in fourth, and 1 below in fifth. The contrast between strong fifth-grade math and weaker fifth-grade science is especially notable.
Results improved in ELA and math from 2024–25 to 2025–26, while science declined. ELA rose 9 points, compared with a 1-point statewide increase, and its position shifted from 4 points below Kansas to 3 above. Math climbed 28 points, versus a 2-point state increase, moving from 3 points below to 23 above. Science fell 5 points as the state fell 3, widening the school’s deficit from 9 to 11 points. SchoolDigger’s ranking improved from 466th of 656 schools and 1 star in 2024–25 to 259th of 657 and 3 stars in 2025–26. The student–teacher ratio was 16.3, and 51% of students were reported eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. Chronic absenteeism was 9%, compared with 11% in the Humboldt district and 18% statewide.
