Summary:

The Eureka area has two schools serving 543 students across grades PK–12: Marshall Elementary School serves PK–6, and Eureka Junior/Senior High serves grades 7–12. In 2025–2026, both schools were above the state in science, and Marshall’s standout result was 79% proficient—41 points above the state and 40 points above the high school.

Marshall Elementary School led the two schools in all three all-grades subjects: 51% in ELA, 46% in math and 79% in science, compared with 49%, 37% and 39% at Eureka Junior/Senior High. Marshall was 5 points above the state in both ELA and math and 41 points above in science. The high school was 3 points above the state in ELA and 1 point above in science, but 4 points below in math. Its strongest reported outcome beyond tests was a 100% graduation rate, 11 points above the state. Results also vary by grade: at Marshall, ELA proficiency ranged from 25% in grade 6 to 66% in grade 5; at the high school, grade 7 ELA was 39%, while grade 10 was 57%. Because the schools serve different grade spans, their all-grades results are not a same-grade comparison.

Results improved substantially at Marshall, especially in science: from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, its proficiency rose 5 points in ELA, 14 in math and 31 in science. The high school gained 13 points in science, but fell 5 points in ELA and 1 point in math; its math gap with the state widened to 4 points. SchoolDigger’s rankings also moved upward overall: Marshall rose from the 44th to the 56th percentile across the three reported years, while the high school went from the 71st to the 76th. Context differs, too: Marshall’s student–teacher ratio was 10.8 and its free/reduced-lunch rate 72%, compared with 10.1 and 64% at the high school. Marshall also had lower chronic absenteeism than the state (8% versus 18%); the high school was at 17%.
