Summary:
Rawlins County has two public schools serving students from prekindergarten through grade 12: Rawlins County Elementary serves prekindergarten–grade 6, and Rawlins County Junior/Senior High School serves grades 7–12. The elementary school enrolls 210 students and the high school 151. The clearest area-wide strength is science: the two schools’ 2025–2026 average was 56% proficient, 18 percentage points above the state’s 38%.
Rawlins County Elementary led the comparison in all three subjects, while Rawlins County Junior/Senior High School had the lower result in each. The elementary school’s clearest lead was in science: 65% proficient versus 47% at the high school, an 18-point difference. The schools were much closer in ELA, at 45% and 44%, respectively, while elementary led in math, 47% to 39%, an 8-point gap. The high school was below the state in ELA and math but above it in science; elementary was close to the state in ELA and above it in math and science.
Results show shared ELA improvement but mixed trends elsewhere. Both schools’ ELA results rose by about 3 percentage points from the prior year. Elementary math increased by 9 points, while high school math fell by 5; elementary science rose by 4 points, but high school science dropped by 20. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile for elementary climbed from 29th to 42nd to 53rd across the three reported years; the high school’s ranking fluctuated, moving from 60th to 44th to 67th. As context, elementary had a higher reported free/reduced-lunch rate (48% versus 36%) and student–teacher ratio (10.9 versus 8.8). Because the schools serve different grade spans, their schoolwide results are not same-grade comparisons.
