WaKeeney has two public schools serving 398 students from prekindergarten through grade 12: Trego Grade School (PK–8, 285 students) and Trego Community High (grades 9–12, 113 students). Their results vary substantially by subject, and neither school’s overall figures tell the whole story. The most important finding is the high school’s sharp split between math, where proficiency is well above the state, and ELA, where it is far below.

The grade school stands out in all-grades ELA and science, while the high school leads in math.
