Summary:
Inman has two listed public schools: Inman Elementary, serving prekindergarten through grade 6, and Inman Junior/Senior High School, serving grades 7–12. In 2025–26, the average of their proficiency rates was above the state rate in English language arts (ELA), math, and science, though the schools’ results differ by subject. The most important divide is math: elementary proficiency was above the state rate, while high-school proficiency was below it.
Inman Elementary leads in ELA and math: 55% were proficient in ELA and 50% in math, compared with 46% and 37% at the high school. That is a 9-point school-to-school gap in ELA and a 13-point gap in math. Elementary ELA was 9 points above the state rate, and its math was 9 points above; high-school ELA was about even with the state, while its math was 4 points below. Science is nearly even: elementary scored 40% and the high school 39%, both slightly above the 38% state rate. Grade-level results vary, too: elementary grade 4 math was 19 points above its state comparison, while grade 3 was 8 points below; high-school grade 10 ELA was 18 points above state, while grade 8 ELA was 8 points below.
Recent changes are mixed, with the sharpest shared decline in science. From 2024–25 to 2025–26, science proficiency fell 21 points at elementary and 22 points at the high school, leaving the schools’ average just 1 point above the state rate. Math moved in opposite directions: elementary rose 3 points, while the high school fell 10. SchoolDigger’s rankings offer a different perspective: the high school was at the 79th percentile with 4 stars, versus the elementary school’s 59th percentile and 3 stars; both rankings were higher than in 2023–24. As context, both schools reported 8% chronic absenteeism, compared with 18% statewide. Enrollment, student-teacher ratios, and free/reduced-lunch rates also differed, but these observations do not explain the academic results.
