Axtell, Kansas, has two schools in the Prairie Hills district: Axtell Elementary School, serving prekindergarten through grade 8, and Axtell High, serving grades 9–12; together they enroll 162 students. Both schools are above the state results in the subjects reported, though performance varies by subject and grade. The clearest latest-year standout is the high school’s mathematics result: 90%, compared with 41% statewide.
Axtell High leads the two schools in 2025–2026 all-grades ELA and math, with 60% in ELA and 90% in math; Axtell Elementary has 56% and 61%, respectively. The school-to-school gaps are 4 points in ELA and 29 points in math. Neither school is below the state in these all-grades subjects: elementary results are 10 points above state ELA and 20 points above state math, while high school results are 14 and 49 points above. Elementary science is also above state, at 50% versus 38%; no high-school science result is supplied.
