West Central Elementary School is a small rural public school in Francesville, Indiana, serving 335 students in grades K–6 as part of West Central School Corp. In 2025–2026 it ranked 696th of 1,015 Indiana schools—the 31st percentile, with 2 stars. That is a long slide from 2015–2016, when it sat in the 60th percentile with 3 stars, and although it dipped to the 27th percentile with 1 star in 2023–2024, it has only partly recovered. Current all-grade proficiency is 24.44% in ELA, 36.67% in math, and 33.33% in science.

Compared with nearby schools, West Central trails most of them academically. Kankakee Valley Intermediate School, Eastern Pulaski Elementary School, North Judson-San Pierre Elementary School, Wheatfield Elementary School, and Van Rensselaer Elementary School all post higher ELA and math scores, and science is higher at most of them as well. The most promising levers look like targeted ELA and social studies support, continued attendance work, and holding onto the smaller class sizes.
