MSD Steuben County serves about 2,492 students across six schools — four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school — covering pre-kindergarten through grade 12 in the Angola area of northeastern Indiana. The district is ranked 179th out of 374 Indiana districts, around the 52nd percentile with a 3-star rating. Enrollment is roughly split, with the elementary schools together accounting for about 1,235 students, while Angola High School (714 students) and Angola Middle School (543 students) are the largest individual campuses.

The strongest results come from Ryan Park Elementary School, where 2025–2026 all-grades proficiency reached 47.15% in ELA, 46.35% in Math, and 56.92% in Science — all above district averages — despite having the lowest per-student spending in the data set at $9,854. Angola High School posts a 97.7% graduation rate versus 89.7% statewide and above-state SAT reading at 53.21%, and its rank climbed to the 73rd percentile. Angola Middle School shows a striking Biology End-of-Course proficiency of 93.94%, compared with a district rate of 57.14%, though its ELA lags state levels in grades 6, 7, and 8.

Two schools raise concerns. Carlin Park Elementary School has earned 1-star ratings in all three years, with 2025–2026 ELA at 26.52% and Math at 30.30%, plus the highest elementary chronic absenteeism at 19.7%. Pleasant Lake Montessori School fell from the 52nd to the 23rd percentile, with all-grades Math at 10.87% and the highest per-student spending at $13,659 — though with only 99 students, grade-level results swing widely. Hendry Park Elementary School has the lowest absenteeism at 9.9%, while Angola High School has the highest at 25.1%.
