Summary:

Springs Valley Com School Corp is a small Indiana district with just two schools serving 877 students: Springs Valley Elementary School for grades K–5 (432 students) and Springs Valley Community High School for grades 6–12 (445 students). There is no separate middle school, so the high school also covers grades 6–8. The district ranks 131 of 374 Indiana districts (65th percentile, 3 stars).

The two schools have very different profiles. Springs Valley Elementary School is the stronger ILEARN performer: 58.75% proficient in all-grades math versus the district's 36.99%, and 48.13% in ELA versus the district's 36.81%, with 3rd grade math at 73.77% compared with 51.9% statewide. Its rank has held steady at about the 65th percentile with 3 stars. Springs Valley Community High School shines on upper-level measures — a 97.1% graduation rate versus the state's 89.7%, SAT reading (EBRW) at 64.52% versus 51.9% statewide, and Biology EOC at 60.94% — and its rank climbed from 59th percentile (2023–2024) to 82nd percentile and 4 stars in 2025–2026. However, its middle-grade ILEARN results lag: 7th grade math is 17.33% proficient versus 35.9% statewide, and 8th grade math is 15.25% versus 34.2%.

Two things stand out for parents. First, chronic absenteeism is higher than the state's 16.7% at both schools — 23.9% at the high school (7.2 points above the state) and 18.1% at the elementary. Second, both schools serve a relatively high-poverty population, with free/reduced lunch at 51.24% and 52.55%. Elementary science and social studies are worth watching: 4th grade science is 40.38% versus 43.8% statewide and dropped from 52.27% a year earlier, while 5th grade social studies is 40.43% versus 47.2%. The high school spends more per student ($12,197 versus $11,404) with a lower student-teacher ratio (14.8 versus 16.6), though high school cost structures differ.
