The La Porte Community School Corp includes 11 schools — seven elementary, two middle, and two alternative schools — enrolling about 5,736 students. The district's overall rating is 197 of 374, the 47th percentile with 2 stars, but that single number hides wide differences between schools. LaPorte High School is the largest school at 1,807 students (about 31.5% of the district), followed by LaPorte Middle School at 862 and Kesling Intermediate School at 847.

F Willard Crichfield Elementary is the clear standout: it has the district's highest all-grade ELA (52.25%), math (69.66%), and science (68.75%) proficiency, the lowest chronic absenteeism at 7.4%, the lowest free/reduced-lunch rate at 22.44%, and the lowest per-student spending among reporting schools at $9,631. Handley Elementary School shows that high poverty does not have to mean low math achievement — its math proficiency is 65.81% despite a 52.73% free/reduced-lunch rate. Kingsford Heights Elementary School is the most volatile school, dropping from 5 stars and 91st percentile in 2024-25 to 2 stars and 44th percentile in 2025-26.

At the high school level, LaPorte High School has a strong 94.1% graduation rate, above both district and state, but chronic absenteeism of 29.4% and SAT math of 22.53% are concerns. Riley Elementary School and Indian Trail Elementary School are the clearest below-district elementary performers, and La Porte Online School is an alternative virtual school with far lower proficiency and results that should not be compared directly to brick-and-mortar schools.
