Summary:

Avon Community School Corp serves roughly 8,940 students in nine schools west of Indianapolis: six elementary schools (K–5), two middle schools (6–8), and one high school (9–12). The district is top-tier in Indiana — ranked 24th of 374 districts, 94th percentile, 5 stars — and every school here sits at or above the 80th percentile within its own grade level, with all earning 4 or 5 stars.

Avon High School is the largest school at 3,523 students and ranks 27th of 415 high schools. Its 96.9% graduation rate and SAT results (65.26% proficient in reading/writing and 41.75% in math, versus state rates of 51.9% and 25.6%) are clear strengths, though it has the district's highest chronic absenteeism at 10.5% and the lowest per-student spending at $11,043. Among middle schools, Avon Middle School North ranks 32nd of 486, ahead of Avon Middle School South at 44th, which has slipped from 23rd two years ago. Elementary standouts include Maple Elementary School, which jumped from 273rd to 75th of 1,015, and Cedar Elementary School, ranked 68th with the district's lowest student-teacher ratio of 14.0.

Elementary math is the district's clearest strength: five of six elementaries beat the district's 62.62% math proficiency, led by River Birch Elementary School at 72.83%. Hickory Elementary School has the lowest absenteeism at 3.2%, while Pine Tree Elementary School has the highest free/reduced lunch rate (58.44%) and highest spending ($12,963) but lower reading and math results. Notably, Sycamore Elementary School and other high-poverty schools still perform well, showing poverty is not destiny here.
