Huntington, Indiana is served by 6 public schools — all under a single district, Huntington County Com School Corp, which ranks at the 57th percentile statewide with 3 stars. The city has one high school (Huntington North High School, 1,441 students), two middle schools (Crestview Middle School and Riverview School, 1,099 combined), and three elementaries (Flint Springs Elementary, Horace Mann Elementary, and Lincoln Elementary School, 1,242 combined) — 3,782 students total. Citywide chronic absenteeism averages 15.3%, below the state's 16.7%.

The city's schools are sharply polarized, spanning from the 74th percentile (4 stars) to the 23rd percentile (1 star). Flint Springs Elementary is the academic standout: it is the only school beating the district in all three tested subjects, is the only one improving in both ELA and math, and has the lowest absenteeism in the city at 11.1%. Huntington North High School holds the best rank position, graduates 92.8% of students (above the state's 89.7%), and outpaces the state in SAT reading, though its math sits essentially at the state line. Horace Mann Elementary has the highest science proficiency in the data and climbed from the 30th to the 46th percentile. At the other end, Lincoln Elementary School is the city's only 1-star school and trails in every subject.

Two patterns matter for families. First, poverty tracks outcomes closely: the elementary schools line up almost perfectly by free/reduced lunch share, from Lincoln (81.71% FRPL, 22.8% ELA) to Flint Springs (55.95%, 46.79%). Notably, spending and class size run the opposite way — Lincoln spends the most ($12,395) with the smallest classes (11.6:1) yet posts the weakest results. Second, middle school is where attendance erodes: Riverview School (17.6%) and Crestview Middle School (17.5%) both exceed district and state absenteeism, and Crestview fell to 2 stars with declines in ELA and math. Riverview, however, outperforms Crestview in all three subjects despite serving more low-income students.
