Summary:
Schools in ZIP code 60950 include three Manteno schools serving prekindergarten through grade 12: Manteno Elementary School (PK–4), Manteno Middle School (grades 5–8), and Manteno High School (grades 8–12). The two schools with IAR results were above state results in both all-grades ELA and math, but their strengths differ. The clearest overall pattern is strong IAR performance at Elementary and Middle alongside mixed high-school results.
Middle stands out in all-grades IAR ELA: 70% proficient, compared with 62% at Elementary, a 9-point gap; Middle is 14 points above the state, and Elementary is 5 points above. Elementary leads in all-grades math, at 57% versus Middle’s 44%, a 13-point difference; Elementary is 17 points above the state, while Middle is 4 points above. High-school results are less consistent: grade 9 PreACT ELA is 68%, 6 points above the state, while grade 10 PreACT math is the clearest below-state result at 28%, 9 points below. Grade 11 ACT ELA is essentially level with the state at 50%.
Recent trends show gains in IAR ELA at both Elementary and Middle, up 2 and 4 points, respectively, from the prior year, while math fell 4 points at Elementary and rose 2 points at Middle. High-school changes also vary: grade 9 PreACT ELA rose 7 points, but grade 11 ACT ELA fell 9 points. SchoolDigger percentile ranks declined by 10 points at each of the elementary and middle schools and 11 at High, despite some test-score gains. As context, all three schools reported similar free/reduced lunch eligible shares for 2024–25—about 34%; student-teacher ratios range from 11.3 at Middle to 15.3 at High. All-grades results cover different grade spans, so they do not provide a like-for-like comparison across schools.
