Summary:

Five high schools in ZIP code 60618 serve grades 7–12 at Lane Technical and Disney II Magnet, and grades 9–12 at Aspira Charter–Business and Finance, Alcott College Prep, and ASPIRA Charter–Early College Prep; all are in Chicago Public Schools District 299. Results across the area vary widely, with some schools well above state results and others substantially below. The clearest standout is Lane Technical, which leads the reported current results in every subject and grade where schools can be compared.

Lane is far ahead: its grade-11 ACT proficiency is 93% in English, 87% in math, and 89% in science, compared with state results of 50%, 40%, and 48%. At the other end, Alcott scores 26% in ACT English, 18% in math, and 25% in science; its results are 24, 22, and 23 percentage points below the state, respectively. The reported grade-11 ACT math results span 69 points from Lane to Alcott. Disney is mixed rather than consistently low: it exceeds the state in grade-7 math, grade-8 science, and grade-11 ACT English and science, but has the lowest reported grade-10 PreACT math result at 17%. Current test results for both ASPIRA schools are state-suppressed, so they cannot be ranked on those results.

SchoolDigger’s 2025–26 rankings also place Lane well ahead, at the 99th percentile, versus Disney at the 42nd, Alcott at the 22nd, Aspira–Business at the 10th, and ASPIRA–Early College at the 8th. Lane remained at the 99th percentile across the three years shown, while Disney and Alcott declined from the 52nd to 42nd and 37th to 22nd percentiles. Other school measures do not mirror the test-score pattern: Lane has the highest student-teacher ratio, 16.5, while Alcott’s is 4.4. The 2024–25 free/reduced lunch eligible measure ranges from 35% at Lane to 92% at ASPIRA–Early College; these figures provide context, not an explanation for results. Attendance and completion also warrant separate consideration: chronic absenteeism is 33% at Lane and 52% at Disney, while reported dropout rates are 61% at Aspira–Business and 41% at ASPIRA–Early College.
