Community Cons School has consistently underperformed compared to the state average in both English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics proficiency across all grade levels. For example, in 2024-2025, the school's ELA proficiency rate was 48.8% compared to the state's 53.1%, and its Mathematics proficiency rate was 28.5% compared to the state's 38.5%. The school's performance has been particularly weak in the upper grades, with only 15.8% of 6th graders and 15% of 8th graders proficient in Mathematics. Compared to nearby schools, such as Sesser-Valier Elementary School, Community Cons School generally lags behind in academic performance.

In addition to academic challenges, Community Cons School has consistently high chronic absenteeism rates, reaching 26.3% in the 2023-2024 school year, which is significantly higher than the state average of 6.2%. The school's performance has also declined over the years, with its statewide ranking dropping from 957 out of 2082 Illinois elementary schools in 2021-2022 to 925 out of 2056 in 2024-2025. Despite these issues, the school's per-student spending has remained relatively consistent, and its student-teacher ratio has been relatively high, which may contribute to the school's challenges in providing personalized attention and support to students.

Open Quote I have a child and who attends this once highly recommended school and have lived in this community for many years. Our ISAT scores may be high, but that does not tell anything about the atmosphere or relationships at this school. Parents, students, and teachers work closely together to deal with the many changes that have been brought about in the last few years under our new "dictatorship" Our voices are not heard and opinions are pushed aside not having a supportive schoolboard. If you are planning on moving into this district, I suggest you contact several parents, community members, or teachers to hear the truth about our school. Attend a board meeting and witness parents and teachers being treated as if they do not matter. You may want to take these things into consideration as well: we have no arts or music program and have an extremely difficult time getting activities to be approved, no teachers aides to assist children or teachers, shortage of bus drivers, no school nurse, alot of unnecessary redtape to go through for sports and extra curricular activities, under the new leadership parents have not been welcomed into the school our own tax dollars are paying for, administration refuses to buy many of the teachers supplies and expects the teachers and parents to purchase them, wanting to do away with 8th grade graduation and many more circumstances parents and teachers have sadly, been struggling to deal with.
