Summary

Kimball Middle School serves 501 students in grades 7–8 in Elgin, within School District U-46. Its 2025–2026 results point to concerns in both learning and attendance: math proficiency was 15%, and chronic absenteeism was 36%. The most striking overall concern is that chronic absenteeism was higher than at every nearby school, as well as higher than the district and state rates.

ELA is Kimball’s strongest subject compared with its other results, but it remains below key benchmarks: 37% were proficient, compared with 56% statewide and 46% in the district.
