Summary

Clark G R Elementary School is a public elementary school serving grades PK-8 in the West Side neighborhood of Chicago Public Schools District 299. With 144 students, the school faces significant challenges, including high chronic absenteeism rates, low academic performance, and equity gaps among student subgroups.

Clark G R Elementary School's chronic absenteeism rates have ranged from 22.7% to 40.8% in recent years, far exceeding the district and state averages. This likely contributes to the school's low test scores, with only 43.6% of students proficient or better in ELA and 19.2% in Math, compared to 53.1% and 38.5% statewide, respectively. The school's performance is particularly low for certain student subgroups, ranking in the bottom 25% of Illinois elementary schools for both female and male students in ELA and Math.

Despite spending significantly more per student ($17,129 to $27,311) than the district and state averages, Clark G R Elementary School's academic outcomes remain concerning. When compared to nearby schools, such as Irving Elementary School in Oak Park, the performance gap is stark, with Irving having significantly higher test scores and lower chronic absenteeism rates. The presence of a nearby charter school, Catalyst Charter-Circle Rock Elementary School, provides an alternative educational option for families, though its performance is not significantly better than Clark G R.
