High schools in St Charles CUSD 303 include two schools serving grades 9–12: St Charles East High School, with 1,930 students, and St Charles North High School, with 1,903. Both schools are consistently above Illinois proficiency results: all 18 school results across the tested subjects and grades in 2025–2026 beat the matching state result, and North led East in eight of nine comparisons.

St Charles North stands out for its stronger overall test results and SchoolDigger ranking: it ranks 25th of 620 Illinois high schools, in the 96th percentile, compared with St Charles East at 53rd, in the 91st percentile. North’s largest leads are in math: 77% versus 61% on grade 11 ACT math, a 17-point gap, and 68% versus 52% on grade 10 PreACT math, a 16-point gap. East’s exception is grade 9 PreACT science, where it scores 66% to North’s 65%. East also has notably higher chronic absenteeism: 32%, compared with North’s 20%, the district’s 15% and the state’s 24%.

Recent results are mixed rather than uniformly rising: East gained 7 points in grade 9 PreACT math but fell 6 points in grade 10 PreACT math; North gained 3 points in grade 11 ACT math and dropped 9 points in grade 9 PreACT science. North’s stronger results coincide with a higher student-teacher ratio: 14.6, compared with East’s 13.1 in 2024–2025. The schools also reported different free/reduced lunch eligible shares in 2021–2022: 7% at North and 12% at East, a 4-point difference.
