Its ELA results were strongest in seventh grade at 85% and lowest in sixth grade at 68%. In math, fourth grade led at 73%, while eighth grade was lowest at 23%. The spread across grades was much larger in math: 50 percentage points, compared with 17 points in ELA. Smithton’s science results remained above the state in both tested grades in 2025–26: 53% versus 48% in grade 5, and 61% versus 52% in grade 8.
ELA and math proficiency rose slightly from the prior year, but the state improved faster in ELA: Smithton’s ELA rate increased by 1 percentage point, while the state rate rose by 3 points, narrowing the school’s lead from 24 to 21 points. Science results fell, especially in grade 8, where Smithton dropped 25 points to 61%; its lead over the state narrowed from 41 to 9 points. SchoolDigger gives Smithton 4 stars, and its statewide percentile was 84 in 2023–24, 85 in 2024–25, and 81 in 2025–26. Other reported context includes a 13.5 student–teacher ratio in 2024–25 and 13% free/reduced lunch eligible that year; chronic absenteeism was 6% in 2025–26, 17 percentage points below the state. Because the list contains only one school, it cannot show differences among schools in the district.
