Pawnee CUSD 11

Pawnee CUSD 11 has two listed schools: Pawnee Grade School, serving prekindergarten through fifth grade, and Pawnee Junior/Senior High School, serving grades six through twelve. In 2025–2026, reported all-grades English proficiency was near the state rate at both schools, but math results were lower. Math is the clearest concern: both schools trailed the state, especially the high school.

The high school led in all-grades English, with 57% proficient compared with 50% at Grade School; the high school was roughly level with the state’s 56%, while Grade School was 6 points below. Grade School was stronger in math: 35% proficient versus 21% at the high school, a 15-point difference. Both were below the state’s 40% rate, by 4 points at Grade School and 19 points at the high school. Grade-level results add important contrasts: Grade School fourth-grade English was 63%, 7 points above the state, while third grade was 40%, 8 points below. The high school’s 11th-grade ACT results stood out: English proficiency was 73%, 23 points above the state, and science was 67%, 19 points above. Because the schools serve different grade spans, their all-grades scores are not like-for-like comparisons.

All-grades scores fell from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026 at both schools: English declined 11 points at Grade School and 16 at the high school; math fell 6 and 3 points, respectively. SchoolDigger statewide ranking percentiles changed differently: Grade School went from 54 to 65 to 41 across the latest three years, while the high school went from 70 to 57 to 61. Staffing ratios were similar at 10.5 students per teacher at Grade School and 10.2 at the high school. As context, in 2024–2025, 26% of Grade School students and 9% of high school students were free/reduced lunch eligible. Attendance was a relative bright spot: chronic absenteeism was 7% and 11%, respectively, versus 24% statewide; the high school’s graduation rate was 95%, compared with 90% statewide.
