Hutsonville Elementary and Junior High School up 449 spots statewide this year
Summary:

Hutsonville CUSD 1 has two schools serving prekindergarten through grade 12: Hutsonville Elementary and Junior High School (PK–8, 190 students) and Hutsonville High School (grades 9–12, 77 students). Current results show strengths in different places rather than one clear schoolwide leader: elementary all-grades IAR results are below the state in ELA and math, while the high school’s reported ninth-grade PreACT Secure results are above the state in all three subjects. The clearest shared strength in the available results is science: elementary fifth-grade proficiency is 34 points above the state, eighth-grade is 21 points above, and high-school ninth-grade is 27 points above.

Hutsonville Elementary and Junior High stands out for science and upper-grade ELA: in 2025–2026, grade 5 science was 81% proficient versus 48% statewide, grade 8 science was 73% versus 52%, and grade 8 ELA was 87% versus 63%. Its all-grades results are a weaker spot: ELA was 54%, 2 points below the state, and math was 34%, 5 points below. Hutsonville High stands out in reported ninth-grade results, scoring 74% in ELA, 58% in math, and 74% in science—12, 16, and 27 points above state results, respectively. Neither school can be called the overall test-score leader because the available results cover different grades and tests.

Results have improved in some areas but not others. From 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, the high school’s ninth-grade scores rose 21 points in ELA, 20 in math, and 31 in science; at the elementary school, all-grades ELA rose 16 points, while math fell 9. SchoolDigger rankings also rose: the high school went from the 30th to the 91st percentile and from 2 to 5 stars, while the elementary school moved from the 42nd to the 63rd percentile and from 2 to 3 stars. In 2024–2025, free/reduced lunch eligible was 52% at the elementary school and 49% at the high school; student–teacher ratios were 9.0 and 6.4, respectively. Attendance differs too: 2025–2026 chronic absenteeism was 15% at the elementary school and 26% at the high school, while the high school graduation rate was 92%.
