Summary:

Chsd 218 has three high schools serving grades 9–12: A B Shepard High School (Campus), DD Eisenhower High School (Campus) and H L Richards High Sch(Campus), with enrollment from 1,702 to 1,916. Across the three schools, average proficiency is below state results in most comparisons: the group averages 46% in ELA versus 55% statewide, 30% in math versus 39%, and 38% in science versus 48%. Grade 9 results at Shepard and Richards are notable exceptions. The clearest difference within the group is that Eisenhower is lowest in all nine 2025–26 test comparisons, scoring 8 to 24 points below the average of the other two schools.

Richards and Shepard lead different subjects, while Eisenhower trails throughout. Richards has the highest grade 11 ACT scores in ELA and math and leads all three grade 9 PreACT subjects; its grade 9 science score is 47%, compared with 22% at Eisenhower. Shepard leads grade 11 ACT science at 41% and all three grade 10 PreACT subjects. The top two schools are generally closer to each other: their largest difference is 5 points, in grade 11 ACT science. Richards and Shepard also exceed the state in grade 9 ELA, with 65% and 64%, respectively, versus 62% statewide; Richards is just above the state in grade 9 math and science as well.

Recent score trends favor Richards, but SchoolDigger rankings tell a more mixed story. From 2024–25 to 2025–26, Richards improved in all nine comparisons, averaging a 5-point gain; Shepard averaged a 2-point gain, while Eisenhower declined by 1 point. Yet SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile rankings from 2023–24 to 2025–26 fell from 55 to 49 for Richards, 55 to 46 for Shepard, and 28 to 17 for Eisenhower. School size and student-teacher ratios are fairly similar: ratios range from 13.3 at Eisenhower to 15.3 at Shepard. The 2024–25 free/reduced lunch eligible figures are 85% at Eisenhower, 68% at Shepard and 62% at Richards—useful context, not an explanation for score differences.
