Taylorville’s four public schools, part of Taylorville CUSD 3, serve students from prekindergarten through grade 12: North Elementary School, Memorial Elementary School, Taylorville Junior High School, and Taylorville Senior High School. The most important finding is the sharp difference between strong eighth-grade results at Junior High and below-state results at Memorial: Junior High eighth graders were 20 percentage points above the state in ELA, 9 points above in math, and 11 points above in science in 2025–2026, while Memorial was below the state in both subjects in grades 3 and 4.

Taylorville Junior High School stands out most for its eighth graders, though its overall results are more mixed: across grades 5–8, ELA proficiency was 63% versus 56% statewide, while math was 35% versus 40%. Memorial Elementary School had the weakest reported IAR results; its fourth-grade math proficiency was 22% compared with 42% statewide.
