Summary:
Four schools in Midlothian serve 2,900 students across grades K–12: Central Park Elementary and Kolmar Elementary serve K–8, Springfield Elementary serves K–5, and Bremen High School serves grades 9–12. The clearest area-wide concern is that elementary proficiency averages fall below state results in both core subjects: 42% in ELA versus 56% statewide, and 23% in math versus 40%. Bremen’s grade 11 ACT proficiency was also below state results in ELA, math, and science, with gaps of 16, 20, and 19 percentage points, respectively.
Springfield stands out in all-grades elementary math, scoring 29%, compared with 22% at Central Park and 19% at Kolmar—an 11-point lead over Kolmar. Kolmar leads in ELA at 44%; the other two schools are about 41%, a 3-point range. Central Park leads reported science results in grade 5 (34%) and grade 8 (39%). Bremen offers a positive outcome alongside weaker proficiency: its graduation rate was 90.1%, close to the state’s 89.8%.
Recent changes show different trajectories by school: from 2024–25 to 2025–26, ELA rose 3 points at Central Park and 7 at Kolmar, but fell 9 at Springfield; math rose 1 and 3 points at the first two schools, but fell 6 at Springfield. SchoolDigger’s 2025–26 rank-history percentiles were 19 for Bremen, 17 for Central Park, 18 for Kolmar, and 19 for Springfield; Springfield’s percentile had fallen from 45 in 2023–24. Context also differs: in 2024–25, free/reduced lunch eligible students made up 73% at Springfield, 68% at Central Park, and 65% at Kolmar. Springfield had the lowest student-teacher ratio, 10.4, compared with 13.7 at Central Park and 13.1 at Kolmar; these measures do not map neatly onto test results.
