Summary:
Lexington, Illinois, has three public schools in Lexington CUSD 7, spanning prekindergarten through grade 12 and enrolling 511 students: Lexington Elementary School (238 students), Lexington Junior High School (110), and Lexington High School (163). The latest 2025–2026 results show a broadly strong picture compared with the state, though some grade and subject results differ. Most notably, 25 of the 26 non-suppressed school test results were above the corresponding state results.
Lexington Junior High School leads the two schools with comparable all-grades IAR results: 84% in ELA and 54% in math, respectively 6 and 5 percentage points above Lexington Elementary School. Elementary stands out in fifth grade, where 88% were proficient in both ELA and science—33 points above the state in ELA and 40 points above in science. Its clearest low result is fourth-grade math: 33%, compared with 42% statewide. Lexington High School was above the state in every available result; its smallest lead was 2 points in ACT math, while its grade-nine PreACT science result was 21 points higher.
Recent changes vary by school and subject. Elementary’s all-grades ELA rose from 66% to 78%, widening its state advantage by 9 points; Junior High’s math rose from 44% to 54%, widening its lead by 9 points. At High School, ACT math fell from 56% to 42%, and its advantage over the state narrowed from 16 points to 2; ninth-grade PreACT math, by contrast, rose from 24% to 49%. SchoolDigger gives all three schools four stars; its latest ranking percentiles are 74 for Elementary, 86 for Junior High, and 82 for High School. For 2024–2025, student-teacher ratios were 12.1 at Elementary, 16.2 at Junior High, and 12.0 at High School; the reported free/reduced lunch eligible shares that year were 25%, 16%, and 18%, respectively. High School also reported a 100% graduation rate and 12% chronic absenteeism in 2025–2026, compared with 90% and 24% statewide.
