Park Intermediate School

Park Intermediate School serves 199 students in grades 4–5 in Weiser, ID, and is part of the Weiser District. The school currently ranks in the lower-middle tier of Idaho elementary schools, placing 200th out of 346 schools (42nd percentile, 2 stars) in the 2025–2026 ranking—a meaningful rebound from the prior year when it ranked 261st (23rd percentile, 1 star).

The most distinctive academic feature at Park is the sharp contrast between its grade levels. On the 2025–2026 ISAT, Park’s 5th graders outperformed the state in math (47.6% vs. 42.2%), ELA (57.1% vs. 55.2%), and especially science (50.5% vs. 44.0%). However, its 4th graders lagged well below state averages, particularly in ELA (36.8% vs. 50.2%). This pattern suggests students may make meaningful progress during their two years at the school. Looking at all grades combined, Park is essentially at the state average in math (43.5% vs. 43.1%) but about 6.5 points behind in ELA. Park dramatically outperforms Payette Primary School, located 12 miles away, which ranks in the 2nd percentile statewide. Park also feeds from Pioneer Primary School (PK–3), whose 3rd graders score below state averages—so the improvement seen by 5th grade is notable.

Park faces real challenges. Chronic absenteeism rose to 18.5% in 2025–2026, up from 12.4% the previous year and higher than the state rate (13.8%). Poverty is also increasing, with 56.8% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. The school spends significantly more per student ($11,692) than nearby schools, yet has the highest student-teacher ratio (19.9). While its historical performance has declined from a top-quartile ranking in 2010–2011, the recent improvement and strong 5th grade results offer a positive sign that Park is adding value during the two years it has students.
