Meadows Valley School

Meadows Valley School is a small, pre-K–12 alternative school in New Meadows, Idaho, serving about 142 students in a rural setting as the sole school in the Meadows Valley District. With no other schools within 20 miles, this single-building district carries the full weight of local education, and its small size makes every metric sensitive to the performance of just a handful of students.

Academically, performance is mixed but not consistently behind. In 2024–2025, the school actually exceeded state averages in math (48.4% vs. 43.1%) and science (50.0% vs. 42.6%), though the most recent year pulled back in all subjects. Middle-grade math and ELA scores in 2025–2026 were at or above state levels, hinting at a relative bright spot. The graduation rate has stabilized around 82.5%, exactly matching the state average in 2024–2025. For an alternative school facing rising poverty, maintaining near-average graduation rates while improving attendance is a meaningful accomplishment. However, given the small enrollment, families should interpret year-to-year swings with caution—both the successes and the setbacks can change quickly.
