Open Quote We have been extremely pleased with the education our two children have received at Westminster. They have attended since PreK and are now in middle & high school so we have really enjoyed being a part of the Westminster family.
Not only are the academics very rigorous but every subject is taught from a biblical perspective. So we are very confident that they will be prepared to face the challenges of college and beyond.
As parents we have really enjoyed getting to know other Westminster families and be involved in special events and other activities. So we have been very please with our experience at the school. Close Quote

Open Quote We have been a part of the Westminster family for 14 years. Our oldest started in kindergarten and is now a sophomore in college. The study habits, writing skills, and time management skills that she learned at Westminster made the transition to college a very easy one for her. She is excelling in her studies. Our other 2 children are currently in the middle and upper school. Westminster has navigated the COVID-19 pandemic so well that we have seen zero negative impact on our children’s academic progress. As of December, Westminster has continued on-campus learning 5 days a week while taking every precaution and following all CDC guidelines to keep our children safe. We are so grateful to Westminster’s dedicated faculty and staff. They not only challenge and prepare our children academically, but they truly care for them personally. Close Quote

Open Quote Best decision we ever made. If we were going to pay private school tuition, we wanted a school with excellent academics and instruction in Christianity. At WSA, the academics are rigorous. A Christian worldview permeates but does not stifle. All people are welcome with the hope that they will feel the love of Christ. Faculty and staff do an excellent job in a loving way - not a hardcore, fundamentalist way. Teachers give above and beyond - they are excellent their fields, dedicated to the mission, and to each student's success. They know when to be serious and when to have fun. Our senior said, "I'm going to miss my teachers so much!" At the recent Baccalaureate service each senior was brought to the stage by a special teacher or coach. These faculty members took the time to craft a tribute to and encouragement for each individual young person - sharing funny stories and experiences, recognizing how that student grew as a person. Baccalaureate and Commencement were very moving, traditional services.
Lower school subjects are integrated well, for example, art and music of the 18th century are studied along with history of that time period. The school provides many experiences. For example, in the 5th grade, students participate in a day and evening program to augment study of American history. Teachers, parents, and professional re-enactors bring the principles and time period of the Founding alive.
In middle school kids are encouraged to try things outside of their comfort zone and begin a foreign language. The emphasis is on expanding and learning how to balance time between academics, extra-curricular activities, community and church involvement, and family. Not a lot of "busy work" projects. Because WSA looks at things holistically, they consider travel and experiences education and are always willing to work with families who have travel plans.
In the upper grades the academics are at least a grade level above public schools. AP and Honors classes are offered in all disciplines. Technology is integrated well. Student "houses" compete by raising money for charities, help clean the lunchroom, etc. Each January there is a community service day where students work at senior centers, the food bank, clean up at the canal, etc. College counseling is very organized. Another impressive feature is the philosophy requirement as well as a Christian apologetics class. Latin, Greek, Spanish, and French are offered. There is an exchange program with a French school and each 10th grade French student has the opportunity to study there. Several French students come to WSA for about a month. Also, there are students from China who enrich the environment.
This school does an amazing job - it's worth the investment. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
