Summary

East Paulding High School is a large public high school in Dallas, GA, serving about 1,985 students in grades 9–12 within the Paulding County School District. The school holds a steady 3-star rating and ranks in the middle tier of Georgia high schools (207th out of 455), with a graduation rate of 88.4% that beats the state average of 87.2% but trails its district's 91.6%.

The most significant concern for parents is chronic absenteeism. At 23.3%, East Paulding's rate is nearly 7 points higher than its district average (16.8%) and more than 5 points above the state (17.7%). This gap has persisted for five years, though it has improved from a high of 30.3% in 2022–2023. Another area of weakness is Algebra I proficiency. While the school made a big jump from 25.1% to 39.3% in the latest year, it still trails the district (46.0%) and state (48.1%). On a brighter note, U.S. History proficiency (42.1%) exceeds the state average (38.5%), and the school's spending per student ($12,327) is lower than most nearby schools, suggesting it achieves reasonable results with fewer resources.

Compared to nearby schools, the differences are stark. Within 4–9 miles, Harrison High (ranked 22nd, 97.8% graduation), Hillgrove High (40th), Kennesaw Mountain (39th), and Allatoona High (61st) all sit in the top quartile statewide, while East Paulding and its Paulding County peers cluster in the middle. The school serves its African American and Hispanic students relatively well compared to statewide peers, but special education outcomes are a concern. The recent improvements in ranking, Algebra I, and absenteeism offer hope, but sustained progress will likely depend on closing the absenteeism gap and continuing to build math proficiency.

Open Quote This school has proven time and time again, the kids are the priority. The teachers are so involved and willing to give the kids all the support they could ever need to succeed, while challenging them to do their best. My son transferred from Marietta High last year, mid freshman year. He has drastically improved his grades, he is more involved with school activities and he feels good about going to school. He no longer worries about not making the grade because they didn't offer the added support he truly needed to bring out his best. Thank you EPHS!!!! Close Quote
