Open Quote My son is in 3rd grade at MCES. He is a straight A student and is a great kid. We have been having problems at this school with bullying. This year we have a new principal that says he has "no tolerance" for bullying! Well, I have experienced this year the results of the authority of this so called "no tolerance" school for bullying. At the beginning of the year the principal was confronted with a situation that my son was being picked on and cussed at by a couple of other students. The students admitted they were doing it to the principal. Well throughout the year it has been reaccurring a few times in which my son has told the teachers several times and nothing has been done about it. It happened again where the student kicked my son and thumped his ear twice in class. The class went outside and my son chased the boy around on the playground. All the boys received 2 days ISS without a phone call to me or a letter. The principal said he felt comfortable with the decision he made after I made him aware of the fact that my son has went to the teachers several times about this kid and nothing was done. My son has never been in trouble ever and has always been a principal's honor roll student in gifted classes! I am very upset about the teachers and principal at this school. My son does what he is suppose to and is punished severely for not allowing others to bully him!!! Very disappointed in the new principal at this school and the so called authority figures in the classrooms!!! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
