Martinez Elementary School in Martinez, GA, serves approximately 731 students in grades PK-5 within the high-achieving Columbia County district, holding a 4-star rating and ranking in the 72nd percentile statewide for 2025-2026.

Martinez Elementary stands out for its exceptional work with African American students, ranking in the 85th percentile statewide for this group—a full 13 points higher than its overall ranking. In the most recent ELA data available, 5th graders achieved a 74% proficiency rate, beating the district average by nearly 9 points and surpassing every nearby Columbia County elementary except Stevens Creek Elementary. However, the school's overall state ranking has declined steadily from 119th (2021-2022) to 339th (2025-2026), and its 5th grade math proficiency (50%) lags behind 4th grade (58.2%). Science proficiency also dropped sharply to 49.6%, well below the district's 63%.

Compared to nearby schools, Martinez sits in the lower tier of its Columbia County peers—below Stevens Creek (94th percentile), Blue Ridge (89th), Evans (88th), and Brookwood (80th). Yet it dramatically outperforms the five Richmond County schools within a 4-mile radius, which all rank in the bottom 36% statewide. Notably, Martinez serves a higher-need population (61% free/reduced lunch) than most Columbia County peers, yet still achieves solid results. The school also spends less per student ($12,694) than Brookwood ($15,445) while achieving similar outcomes, suggesting efficient use of resources. Hispanic students represent the school's biggest growth opportunity, ranking in the 29th percentile statewide.

Open Quote My daughters and my grand daughter attended Martinez Elementary. I found many of the teachers were helpful, were always willing to meet with me and give me instruction of how to help my daughters meet their full potential. There were a few that were not so helpful but it seemed that they were not at the school long. Many thanks to the caring teachers there. Both of my daughters completed college and are working in very challenging professions. My grand daughter is doing well also. Close Quote
