Portal Middle/High School is a combined middle and high school in the rural community of Portal, GA (about 12 miles from Statesboro), serving 523 students in grades 6 through 12 under the Bulloch County School District.

This is a school on a clear upward trajectory. After ranking in the 36th percentile statewide in 2023-2024, Portal Middle/High School now sits in the 60th percentile with a 3-star rating—its strongest performance in nearly a decade. The most impressive gains are in math and science. Algebra I proficiency has jumped from 26.3% to 55.3% in just two years, now beating both the district (47.9%) and state (48.1%) averages. Seventh-grade math proficiency (50.7%) also far exceeds state averages (42%), and Biology proficiency (50.6%) tops the state mark (47.2%). The school's graduation rate of 91.4% outpaces both the district (88.5%) and state (87.2%) and has stayed above 90% for four straight years.
