Summary

Springdale Elementary School in Macon, GA, serves 609 students in Pre-K through 5th grade and is part of the Bibb County School District, where it stands out as one of the strongest elementary schools in a district that overall ranks in the bottom 20% statewide.

Springdale holds a 3-star rating and ranks in the 66th percentile of Georgia elementary schools, a solid mid-to-upper tier position. Its biggest academic strengths are in early-grade math and science. In 2025-2026, 4th grade math proficiency hit 64.6%—nearly double the district rate of 33.7% and well above the state average of 50.1%. Third grade math also beat the state (50% vs. 48.3%), and 5th grade science exceeded both district and state averages (47% vs. 34.7% and 44.2%). The school's most striking advantage, however, is attendance: its chronic absenteeism rate is just 13.1%, compared to 27.5% for the district and 17.7% statewide—a pattern that has held for years. This likely reflects strong family engagement and a positive school culture. Springdale also serves a more economically diverse population than nearby schools, with a free/reduced lunch rate of 46.31%, the lowest among comparable schools like Williams Elementary (84.69%) and Union Elementary (78.32%).

Compared to the 10 other elementary schools within a 6.5-mile radius, Springdale ranks second only to Carter Elementary, outperforming most peers by 50 or more percentile points. It also spends less per student ($15,573) than several lower-performing neighbors like Hartley Elementary ($17,159) and Rosa Taylor Elementary ($16,811), suggesting efficient resource use. Areas for attention include 5th grade math, which lags the state by about 8 points, and a gradual decline from its 2016-2017 peak ranking. Still, Springdale demonstrates that strong achievement is possible within the Bibb County context, making it a model for other schools in the district.

Open Quote I couldn't be happier! My little boy just finished Kindergarten & the care these teachers have is amazing! Our teacher was awesome & always strives to reach above & beyond. For instance, the minimum requirement to enter first grade was to learn 75 sight words... however, she made it a goal for every child to finish with mastering 115! And we did it! I won't lie, it wasn't easy & all three of us worked hard to achieve that goal. She was super communicative in how my little boy was doing, where he was, what we needed to work on, etc. This is only the tip of the iceberg, I could write a book on how fabulous this year has been for us. Open Quote Both the teachers and school staffs are rude and keeping lying to the parents. They do not care about the students' feeling, they only care about how they can make themselves stay out of any students' problems. And the teacher keep yelling at the students. If the teacher is not satisfied with the parents, they will revenge on your kids at once. Close Quote
