Springdale Elementary School

Summary:

Springdale Elementary School is a public elementary school in Macon, Georgia, serving 562 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Bibb County School District, which is ranked 175 out of 201 districts in Georgia and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Springdale Elementary consistently outperforms the Bibb County and Georgia state averages on the Milestones Assessment, with 57.7% of its 5th-grade students scoring proficient or better in English Language Arts, compared to 23.6% for Bibb County and 41.6% for Georgia. The school also has a more racially diverse student population than many nearby schools, with 31.85% White, 47.15% African American, 6.58% Hispanic, and 9.43% Asian students. Springdale has maintained a strong performance over the years, consistently ranking in the top 50% of Georgia elementary schools and earning a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

While Springdale Elementary outperforms the district and state, many of the nearby schools, such as Williams Elementary, Hartley Elementary, and Veterans Elementary, struggle significantly, with proficiency rates well below the state and district averages. This suggests that Springdale may be an outlier within the Bibb County school system, which has a high percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, indicating a high level of economic disadvantage in the area.

Open Quote I couldn't be happier! My little boy just finished Kindergarten & the care these teachers have is amazing! Our teacher was awesome & always strives to reach above & beyond. For instance, the minimum requirement to enter first grade was to learn 75 sight words... however, she made it a goal for every child to finish with mastering 115! And we did it! I won't lie, it wasn't easy & all three of us worked hard to achieve that goal. She was super communicative in how my little boy was doing, where he was, what we needed to work on, etc. This is only the tip of the iceberg, I could write a book on how fabulous this year has been for us. Open Quote Both the teachers and school staffs are rude and keeping lying to the parents. They do not care about the students' feeling, they only care about how they can make themselves stay out of any students' problems. And the teacher keep yelling at the students. If the teacher is not satisfied with the parents, they will revenge on your kids at once. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
