Summary:

Heritage High School and Ringgold High School serve as the district’s two high schools, with Heritage ranking 87th statewide (81st percentile) and Ringgold ranking 145th. Heritage leads in Biology (69.1% proficiency vs. 56.4%) and Algebra I (54.9% vs. 42.6%), while Ringgold edges ahead in US History (38.8% vs. 36.8%). Heritage also posts a higher graduation rate (93.2% vs. 92.5%) and a much lower chronic absenteeism rate (14.2% vs. 24.9%). The 10.7-point absenteeism gap at Ringgold High is a notable concern, especially since nearly one in four students there is chronically absent. Both schools exceed the state dropout average of 2.4%, with rates of 1.6% and 1.0%, respectively.

At the middle school level, Heritage Middle School is the district’s academic powerhouse, ranking 94th of 578 Georgia middle schools with 91.3% proficiency in Algebra I and 92.9% in HS Physical Science—both far above state averages. Ringgold Middle School is the standout improver, jumping from 144th to 78th in state rankings and achieving a perfect 100% proficiency in Algebra I. Ringgold Middle also leads in 6th Grade Math (64.4%) and 8th Grade Science (50.4%), while Heritage Middle excels in 8th Grade Social Studies (57.5%). Both schools outperform the district and state in most subjects, and both have chronic absenteeism rates below 14%.

Among the four elementary schools, Boynton Elementary School leads in 3rd Grade Math (66.7%, 18.4 points above state) and shows strong 4th Grade results (60.2%). Graysville Elementary School excels in 4th Grade Math (62.6%) but drops sharply in 5th Grade Math (44.9%) and 5th Grade Science (33.6%, below state). Ringgold Elementary School struggles early (32.6% in 3rd Grade Math) but improves to near state average by 5th grade. Ringgold Primary School (PK-2) has no test data but shows a high chronic absenteeism rate of 20.0%. Notably, spending per student does not correlate with performance—Heritage Middle spends the least ($12,473) yet achieves the best results, while Ringgold Primary spends the most ($17,287).
